Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park to Capilano Park

Duration: 2-3.5 hours

This trip is offered on Saturday afternoons at 12:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

Wednesday evenings trips are available with enough interest, meeting at 4:00 p.m.

We meet at the main parking lot at Capilano Park (see the smiley face on the map), where we will sign waivers, give basic paddling instructions and a safety brief. Then, we’ll take a 40-minute shuttle ride to the Wilfrid Laurier Park boat launch. We’ll help you launch and embark on your wonderful paddling adventure!

Want to experience a longer trip outside of the downtown core? This trip is available upon request!

Based on interest and availability, River Otter Kayak Adventures offers a trip from Capilano Park to Fort Saskatchewan. This kayak trip takes you out of the city and gives a more wild experience.

When kayaking in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, expect to see sandy cliffs, mixed aspen parkland, and rocky beaches all the way to the beautiful Fort Saskatchewan section of the North Saskatchewan River.

Weather Policy

All bookings are rain or shine, with the exception of severe weather or wind. (operator discretion).

Shuttle Service

Shuttle Service price is included with the kayak rental and package.

If you would like to reserve a Bring Your Own Kayak (BYOK) shuttle service for a given timeslot, please reach out to us at least 24 hours beforehand to confirm availability and book your slot.

All other bookings can be done via our online booking service.

Our main package prices include transportation for one person, one kayak rental, paddles, PFDs, and safety gear.

All times given here for trip duration are approximate. Please allow yourself extra time. Here are our itineraries:

Saturday afternoon itinerary

10:15 a.m.: The shuttle leaves for Wilfrid Laurier Park

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.: Arrive back at Capilano Park boat launch.

5:00 p.m.: Launch kayaks from Wilfrid Laurier Park
7:30 – 8:30 p.m.: Arrive back at Capilano Park boat launch.

Fort Saskatchewan route 

Currently, we have three trips planned for the Capilano Park to Fort Saskatchewan paddle route.

  • August 31
  • September 7
  • September 14

10:00 a.m.: Meet at the Fort Saskatchewan take-out point.
10:15 p.m.: The shuttle leaves for Capilano Park
11:00 a.m.: Launch kayaks from Capilano Park
3:30 – 4:30 p.m.: Arrive back at the Fort Saskatchewan take-out point.

We can accommodate a group booking on another weekend day upon request with enough notice, and if there are no bookings for the Wilfrid Laurier to Capilano time slot.

Online Reservations Required

In order to provide you with a personalized, flexible service, our trips are scheduled by pre-arranged bookings online, and times are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
